"We played very well this morning, we really did," said Head Coach Mike Mayer. "It was a see-saw match at first, but then we took control down the stretch. I am very proud of these guys for that. The championship match versus Michigan is going to be a good one. We've put ourselves in position, now we just have to go out there and get it done."
The top of the Hoosier lineup was too much for Michigan State as IU won the final three pairings of the match. Jorge Campillo won 2UP over Jack Newman in the top spot. Fellow senior Seth Brandon was also victorious, posting a 1UP win over Graham Baillargeon at No. 3. Alex Martin, playing in the No. 2 position, had the largest win of the match, a 3 and 1 decision over Payne Gniewek.
Chase Wright also earned a point for the Cream and Crimson by topping Andrew Ladwig, 2 and 1. Drew Allenspach notched a half point with his all square effort versus Phil Snow in the first pairing to finish their round.
