Feb. 23, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Brant Peaper has been named Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week after leading the Indiana Hoosiers to the tournament title at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate earlier this week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The award is the first for Peaper, who also earned medalist honors for the first time after posting a 3-under 213 to win by seven strokes. The Tequesta, Fla. native led the field with 13 birdies during the 54-hole tournament.
Peaper began the event with an even-par 72 in the opening round and came back with a 1-under 71 in the afternoon to tie for the lead. Peaper closed out the tournament with a 2-under 70. Peaper was among five Hoosiers that finished among the top-15 in the event.
Peaper is the second Hoosier to win the weekly honor this season as junior Chase Wright was named Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week on Feb. 9, 2011.
