    HOOSIERS SLIP TO TENTH

    Wheatcroft Notches Career-Best Finish

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Entering today's final round of the Seminole Classic, the men's golf team stood little chance of catching the sizzling North Carolina. However, the team could have made waves by playing well enough for a top five finish. Unfortunately, hope of a top five finish quickly vanished following a round of 318 today, dropping the squad into a tie for 10th.

While the team play wasn't one for the record books, there were some individual bright spots to note. After a tie for 81st and a tie for 102nd in the Northern and Persimmon Ridge, respectively, Steven Wheatcroft had a long lay-off before returning to action for the Hoosiers. This time, the redshirt freshman from a year ago took advantage of his chance to represent the team. A second consecutive round of 75 today secured Wheatcroft's career-best finish, a tie for 19th.

Brent Landry, another Hoosier that started the season slowly, once again played well. Following his career-best finish at the Mercedes-Benz last week, a tie for 10th, Landry ended up in a tie for 36th today.

The individual title went to North Carolina's Ross Bain, who took the lead after a first round of 69 and never looked back. His three-round total of 214 was two shots better than North Carolina State's Tim Clark.

The Hoosiers will be off until March 28-29, when they travel to Dallas, Texas, for the Dr. Pepper.
