MEN'S GOLF TRAVELS TO TEXAS FOR DR. PEPPER INTERCOLLEGIATE

Tournament Data: The Indiana University men's golf team will travel to Pottsboro, Texas to compete in the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate golf tournament. The 54-hole event will be contested at Tanglewood Resort, a par 72, 7,003 yard championship golf course. On Saturday, March 27, the first 36 holes will be played beginning at 7:30 a.m. The tournament will conclude on Sunday, March 28, with 18 holes being played and a shotgun start also beginning at 7:30 a.m.

The Teams: (19) Akron, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Jackson State, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State, Purdue, Texas-Arlington, Texas Tech, Toledo, Wisconsin, Wichita State.

The Hoosiers: Last week IU spent the week in Florida for spring break. The team used the vacation to practice and compete with each other for starting positions. Two weeks ago, the Hoosiers participated in the Golden Ocala Intercollegiate in Ocala, Fla. The Hoosiers finished tied for 10th with a two-day score of 602.

Coach Mike Mayer has made a line-up change for this week's Dr. Pepper. Chick Linski will travel to Texas instead of Rich Thomas. Linski (77.2) will join John Barry (74.9), Brent Landry (73.2), Corey Sullivan (75.3), and Steve Wheatcroft (73.6).

Mayer thinks his team is more focused after a solid week of practice and he is confident his golfers will play well. "We got a lot of good work after the last tournament," he said. "We're much more prepared."

Mayer also said that his team improved its mental state during the break and should be ready to play well. "The field is better in Dallas than Florida," he said. "But we're going into this tournament with a lot more confidence."
