Indiana to Host Dual Meet Against Michigan
March 27, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's golf team will host Michigan in a dual meet on Saturday, April 1, at the IU Golf Course beginning at 9 a.m. With 18 days off after the Pinehurst Intercollegiate (March 19-21), the Hoosiers will use the meet as a tune up for the Boilermaker Invitational (April 8-9).
The teams will play 36 holes of match play with singles matches taking place in the morning and doubles being held in the afternoon. A minimum of 10 players from each team will compete in the event.
"This gives us a great opportunity to get some competitive golf in with everyone on the team participating," Indiana head coach Mike Mayer said. "It is our only home event of the year, so we are excited to have this opportunity. We're looking forward to the challenge and think it will be great for the team. This will definitely help prepare us for our Big Ten stretch run."
Following the dual meet, Indiana kicks off the home stretch with the Boilermaker Invitational. The Hoosiers will play four tournaments in four weeks, concluding with the Big Ten Championships (April 28-30).
