    MEN'S GOLF IN 8TH PLACE AFTER FIRST DAY IN TEXAS

    POTTSBORO, TEXAS - The Indiana University men's golf team is in eighth place after the first two rounds of the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate in Dallas, Texas. The Hoosiers fired rounds of 304 and 297 for a first day total of 601, 27 strokes behind front runner Minnesota, 574 (290, 284).

    The Hoosiers were led by sophomore Steve Wheatcroft (146), who after turning in consecutive rounds of 73, stands tied for eighth place. Junior John Barry (147) is tied for 12th place after shooting an opening round of 74 followed by a second round of 73.

    James McLean of Minnesota is the individual leader of the tournament. McLean (139) turned in a 72 in the first round and came back with a five-under par round of 67 to close out the day.

    The tournament will conclude tomorrow with 18 holes to be played in a shotgun format beginning at 7:30 a.m. (CST).
