Boilermaker Invitational Next On the Docket for IU Golf

BLOOMINGTON, ind. - The #6 Indiana University men's golf team will remain in the state of Indiana for another weekend as they head north to the Boilermaker Invitational from Apr. 18-19.
This will be Indiana's final regular season event before they head to State College, Pa. to compete in the Big Ten Championships. Purdue University is hosting the event to be played on the Kampen Course. The highly ranked collegiate course, which played host to last year's NCAA Men's Championships, is a par-72, 7,220-yard venue. The course will be extended to 7,465 yards for the final round on Sunday.
The 18-team field will play the first two rounds on Saturday beginning at approximately 8:45 a.m. The final round will take place on Sunday with players teeing off at 8:00 a.m. Indiana's Jorge Campillo won this same tournament last year with a 15-under 201. This year's field is highlighted by seven teams ranked inside Golfweek's top 100. Those teams include Indiana, Illinois, Michigan St., Iowa, Purdue, Penn State and Eastern Michigan.
Campillo's three-round score of 203 is tied for the fourth-best in school history.
The team's three-round score of 839 is the third best in school history.
The team's 274 in the second round is tied for the fourth best round in school history.

The 2008 All-American posted a season-best three-round score of 203 for a 67.67 average en route to grabbing medalist honors at the home event.
He also took home the Player of the Week honor on Feb. 18 after wining all three of his matches and guiding the Hoosiers to a first-place finish at the first annual Big Ten Match Play Championship. Golf World also tabbed him as the national "Male College Player of the Week" for his performance.
