BLOOMINGTON, ind. - The #6 Indiana University men's golf team will remain in the state of Indiana for another weekend as they head north to the Boilermaker Invitational from Apr. 18-19.

This will be Indiana's final regular season event before they head to State College, Pa. to compete in ‎the Big Ten Championships. ‎ Purdue University is hosting the event to be played on the Kampen Course. The highly ranked collegiate ‎course, which played host to last year's NCAA Men's Championships, is a par-72, 7,220-‎yard venue. The course will be extended to 7,465 yards for the final round on Sunday. ‎

The 18-team field will play the first two rounds on Saturday beginning at approximately ‎‎8:45 a.m. The final round will take place on Sunday with players teeing off at 8:00 a.m. ‎Indiana's Jorge Campillo won this same tournament last year with a 15-under 201. This year's field is ‎highlighted by seven teams ranked inside Golfweek's top 100. Those teams include ‎Indiana, Illinois, Michigan St., Iowa, Purdue, Penn State and Eastern Michigan. ‎

Indiana waxed the competition at the adidas Hoosier Invitational, posting a 27-stroke edge over the second-place team. The top three players on the individual scoreboard were clothed in Cream and Crimson. Immediately following Campillo were a pair of true freshman in David Erdy and Chase Wright whom finished second and third, respectively. The IU record books were altered several times after that weekend:

    • Campillo's three-round score of 203 is tied for the fourth-best in school history.

    • The team's three-round score of 839 is the third best in school history.

    • The team's 274 in the second round is tied for the fourth best round in school history.

Jorge Campillo is making an ascent up the all-time IU record books this season with his stellar play. Entering the weekend, Campillo's season round average of 70.46 is second all-time and his career round average is down to 72.28 (also second all-time).

Jorge Campillo is atop the Golfstat Cup Standings with an adjusted scoring average of 70.46. An adjusted scoring average takes into account the stroke average of the entire field at each event and is arguably the best way to decide `who is college golf's' top player. As of now, the answer to that question is Campillo. Alex Martin is also in the top-100, slotted 93rd entering the weekend.

Jorge Campillo notched the ninth Big Ten Player of the Week honor of her career on Apr. 15. after leading Indiana to a 27-stroke victory at the adidas Hoosier Invitational. Campillo is now tied with IU grad and current PGA Tour member Jeff Overton for the most career weekly Big Ten awards.

The 2008 All-American posted a season-best three-round score of 203 for a 67.67 average en route to grabbing medalist honors at the home event.

He also took home the Player of the Week honor on Feb. 18 after wining all three of his matches and guiding the Hoosiers to a first-place finish at the first annual Big Ten Match Play Championship. Golf World also tabbed him as the national "Male College Player of the Week" for his performance.

The Big Ten Conference recognized freshman David Erdy's excellent play as well this spring. Erdy earned his first career weekly award after winning the Collegiate Match Play Qualifier and winning two of three individual matches.
