    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team (No. 36 Golfweek-Sagarin/No. 37 Golfstat) will compete in the 2011 Big Ten Championships this weekend at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind. The tournament gets underway with 36 holes on Friday, followed by 18 on both Saturday and Sunday. Head coach Mike Mayer and the Hoosiers will attempt to add to their four tournament titles during the 2010-11 campaign.

    All 72 holes will be played on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The Kampen Course was designed by Pete Dye and is a par-72 at 7,465 yards.

    The Hoosiers are the fourth highest rated team (No. 36) in the Big Ten according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. Illinois is the top-ranked team in the field at No. 13, followed by Iowa (No. 17), and Ohio State (No. 28). There are seven teams in the conference ranked among the top-60.

    Last season, the Hoosiers finished sixth at the Big Ten Championship in Maple Plain, Minn. after posting an 1185 (289-290-306-300) and Alex Martin was the top IU finisher, placing sixth individually.



    Indiana has registered a a team stroke average of 290.41 per tournament this season. If the Hoosiers continue at that pace, they will post the second lowest team average in school history. The 2008-09 Hoosiers set the record with an average of 289.42. This season's Hoosier team is also the first IU squad since 2003-04 to win four team titles in a season.
