Indiana Set for NCAA East Regional

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University men's golf team heads to the NCAA East Regional, Thursday-Saturday, May 18-20, in Orlando, Fla. The University of Central Florida and the Central Florida Sports Commission will host the event at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. Lake Nona is set up as a par 72 with a yardage of 7,215.
Three regional tournaments, encompassing the current nine regions, will be conducted over the three days. A total of 27 teams and six individuals not on selected teams were assigned to each regional site. Ten teams and two individuals not on advancing teams will move on from each regional to the championship finals.
The championships will be conducted May 31-June 3 at the Crosswater Golf Club at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. The University of Portland is the host institution for this year's championships.
IU is participating in the East Regional for the second straight season, is making its third straight regional appearance and its third trip to the NCAAs in head coach Mike Mayer's eight-year tenure. This also marks the first time a Hoosier team has made three consecutive NCAA appearances since Indiana advanced to six straight from 1972-77.
Tournament play begins on Thursday with the Hoosiers teeing of at 1:05 p.m. EDT from tee No. 1. IU starts at 8:35 a.m. in round two from tee No. 10 on Friday. The final round commences from the first and 10th tees beginning at 7 a.m on Saturday.
