Aug. 8, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Head Coach Mike Mayer has announced the schedule for the 2011-12 Indiana men's golf season. The Hoosiers will compete in 10 events throughout the regular season, with five tournaments in both the fall and the spring, followed by postseason play.
"We are extremely pleased with the schedule we have assembled for this coming season" said Mayer. "Our schedule will allow us to compete against the best teams in the country and prepare us for a run at both the Big Ten Championship and the NCAA Championship. We are playing in three of the premiere collegiate events of the 2011-12 season at Olympia Fields, Isleworth, and the Collegiate Match Play Championship. I think we have a great mix of tournaments and I know that our team will be up to the challenge."
The Cream and Crimson will get the season underway on Sept. 10-11 at the Northern Intercollegiate, held at Rich Harvest Farms Country Club in Aurora, Ill. The Hoosiers return to the state of Illinois the following weekend as they head to Chicago for the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Sept. 16-18.
The Hoosiers return to the links on October 10-11 in Akron, Ohio where they will defend their team title on the North Course at the Firestone Invitational. The rest of the fall schedule includes the Windon Memorial (Oct. 16-17) and the Isleworth Collegiate (Oct. 23-25).
The spring portion of the schedule begins with back to back match play events. The Big Ten Match Play Championship (Feb. 10-11) and the Collegiate Match Play Championship (Mar. 18-20) will each be held at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
The Hoosiers return to their home turf on April 7-8 for the NYX Hoosier Invitational at the IU Golf Course. The next two weekends feature the Kepler Intercollegiate (Apr. 14-15) and the Boilermaker Invitational (Apr. 21-22) to wrap up the regular season.
Postseason play begins with the Big Ten Championship on April 27-29 at the Pete Dye Course in French Lick, Ind.
The NCAA Central Regional is set for May 17-19 and the NCAA Finals will be held on May 30-June 3 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
