Wright Advances to U.S. Amateur Match Play, Falls in Round of 32

ERIN, Wisc. - Indiana senior Chase Wright advanced to the match play portion of the 2011 U.S. Amateur Championship this week at Erin Hills before falling to Ben Geyer in the round of 32.
Wright posted a 3-under total in the stroke play with scores of 68 and 71 to finish tied for 19th. The top 64 finishers advanced to the match play competition.
The Muncie, Ind. native, seeded 27th, opened with a 3&2 first round victory over 38th seed Jonathan Randolph of Brandon, Miss. Wright's card showed an even-par score through 16 holes in the win.
Wright was all square in the second round against Geyer of Arbuckle, Calif. heading into the 11th. Geyer went on to win four of the next five holes to claim the 4&3 win.
