Three Former Hoosiers Headline Field at Spikes for Speakers Golf Classic
Sept. 6, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana University men's golf team members Shaun Micheel, Jeff Overton, and Steven Wheatcroft will be among a group of 16 PGA Tour and two Nationwide Tour professionals at the Spikes for Speakers Golf Classic on September 9 at the IU Golf Course.
The event, benefitting the Delta Gamma Lectureship at Indiana University, is hosted by Amy and Mark Wilson. The goal of the lectureship series is to bring visionaries in their respective field to share lessons learned, journeys, and inspiration with the college campus.
Mark Wilson has been on the PGA Tour for nine consecutive seasons and has won four times, including twice in 2011. Amy, a 1999 graduate of the Kelley School of Business, is serving her fourth year as president of the PGA Tour Wives Association.
Foursomes in the event will be joined by one tour player and the format is an 18 hole pro-am shamble. Members of the IU men's and women's golf teams will be available to hit shots at par-3 and par-5 tee boxes.
Along with the trio of former Hoosier standouts, other tour players scheduled to attend include Jason Bohn, Craig Bowden, Steve Marino, John Rollins, Chris Smith, Kevin Streelman and Brett Wetterich.
