Men's Golf Tackles Olympia Fields Starting on Friday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University men's golf team is set to compete in one of the nation's elite tournaments this weekend, heading to Chicago, Ill., for the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational from Sept. 18-20. Click here for live scoring of the event, provided by Golfstat.com.
The field includes seven of the top-10 and 12 of the top-30 teams nationally ranked by Golfweek. In addition, 14 of the top-30 individual collegiate golfers are slated to compete in the event. The complete playing field includes: Arizona State, Augusta State, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Northwestern, San Diego State, Southern California, Stanford, Texas and Wake Forest.
Play will take place on the Olympia Fields Country Club North Course (Par 70, 7,157 yards), the site of of 16 major championships. Most recently, Olympia Fields served as the host for the 2003 U.S. Open, won by Jim Furyk.
The Olympia Fields Invitational is a 54-hole competition with 18 holes being played each day Friday through Sunday. The expected Hoosier line-up is:
Last season, Indiana's Alex Martin earned co-medalist honors after carding a 209 (-1). As a team, the Hoosiers finished second in the elite national tournament. Previous team champions include: Illinois (2008), Oklahoma State (2007) and Duke (2006).
