Hoosiers in Sixth after First Round at Fighting Illini Invitational

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team is in sixth place through one round at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational after posting an 8-over par 288 on Friday at the difficult Olympia Fields Country Club.
In a stellar 15-team field that features 10 ranked squads, the Hoosiers are three strokes behind the trio of Auburn, Alabama, and Ohio State, which are tied for third. Stanford is leading the tournament with a 3-under 277, followed by Oklahoma State at 2-over.
Erdy was 2-over through nine, before righting the ship with a solid 1-under 34 on his second nine. Wright notched five birdies and was among only six players in the field to record five or more on the day.
Ziedonis had a stretch in the middle of his round with three birdies in a span of four holes. The junior from Indianapolis, Ind. never got above 1-over par throughout the round and was 1-under through 11.
David Mills posted a 5-over 75 after bogeying four of his final seven holes. He will head into the second round tied for 54th.
Brant Peaper rounded out the Indiana lineup with an 8-over 78 and is tied for 70th.
