Sept. 21, 2005
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Preparing for its third tournament in less than three weeks, Indiana head coach Mike Mayer has announced his lineup for the Wolverine Intercollegiate. The University of Michigan will host the tournament at the U-M Golf Course on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 24-25.
Making the trip to Ann Arbor, Mich., will be freshman Jorge Campillo (No. 1), sophomore Santiago Quirarte (No. 2), freshman Drew Allenspach (No. 3), senior Scott Seibert (No. 4) and freshman Brandon Pike (No. 5). Additionally, freshman Seth Brandon will play as an individual at the event.
"Our lineup is young once again, but we're going there (Ann Arbor) to win this golf tournament," Indiana head coach Mike Mayer said. "We've played in two great fields and feel like we are ready to go and compete for a championship. That's our goal."
Campillo, Quirarte and Allenspach are making their third straight appearances in as many tournaments and helped the Hoosiers to sixth place at the last week's Gopher Invitational (Sept. 17-18).
Leading the club with a 73.17 scoring average on the season, Campillo also has posted top-15 finishes in both events he has played in.
Quirarte placed 19th at the Gopher Invitational at 222 (72-76-74), picking up his first top 20 of the season and the fifth of his career.
Meanwhile, Allenspach has netted two top-30 finishes in two events, sharing 22nd at the NCAA Central Regional Preview (Sept. 12-13) and tying for 28th at the Gopher Invitational.
Seibert gets a nod in the starting lineup for the second straight week, while Pike will make his collegiate debut at the event. Additionally, Brandon will compete as an individual. Brandon also competed at the season-opening NCAA Central Regional Preview.
