BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Jamie Broce has joined the Hoosier family and will serve as the men's golf assistant coach, Head Coach Mike Mayer announced on Tuesday. Broce has spent the last nine years playing professional golf after graduating from Ball State University in 1999.

"Jamie is a great addition for the men's golf program," said Mayer. "He brings a lot of golf experience and a passion for the game. We are excited to have him here in Bloomington on our staff."

Broce garnered three top-four finishes while playing on the Nationwide Tour from 2005-07. He also has professional golf experience on the NGA Hooters Tour (2002-04, present). In 2000, Broce qualified and played in the PGA Greater Milwaukee Open.

"I am thankful for the great opportunity to be the new men's assistant golf coach at IU," said Broce. "The university is first class, and I am honored to work with Coach Mike Mayer. My goal is to find ways to inspire and motivate the student-athletes to achieve the highest level of performance, both on the course, and in life."

Broce played collegiately at Ball State, earning both the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and Sportsman of the Year Awards as a senior in 1999. Additional accolades include: Academic All-America First team (1998-99), NCAA All-America Third Team (1999) and the Ben Hogan Award in 1998 (nation's top golf scholar-athlete). He captained the Cardinal golf team for three years en route to winning six college tournaments.

"We are thrilled to have Jamie here at IU," said Associate Athletic Director and men's golf administrator Janet Kittell. "As a student-athlete, he excelled both in the classroom and on the golf course, and he will be an outstanding role model for the young men in this program."

Co-founder of the Blair/Broce Junior Golf Academy in LaPorte, Ind., Broce has several years of golf instruction experience. He has served as an instructor at golf clinics hosted by the Nationwide and NGA Hooters Tours, as well as private golf lessons.

Broce will join the Hoosiers for their next competition on Monday, Sept. 29 at the Cardinal Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Louisville.
