BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's golf team is ranked 26th nationally in Golfweek's first rankings this season. IU is the second-highest rated Big Ten team behind 25th-ranked Michigan State.

"We have gotten off to a great start playing one of the toughest schedules in school history," Hoosier head coach Mike Mayer said. "I think we have played some good golf, and we will have to continue to play good golf with the fields we are facing in our final three fall tournaments."

The Hoosiers finished ahead of three top-10 programs in addition to No. 28 TCU and claimed sixth place at the Inverness Intercollegiate (Sept. 10-11). The tournament featured five of the top-12 teams in the country and nine of the 16 teams in the field were ranked in the top 35.

Indiana followed that performance with a tie for fourth place in the 12-team Gopher Invitational (Sept. 15-16) and a third-place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate (Sept. 22-23).

Up next, the Hoosiers head to Chicago for the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club on Sunday-Monday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1. The University of Illinois will host the event featuring one top five, three top 10 and six of the top-15 teams in the country.
