BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
The first rankings of the 2012-13 season have been released by Golfstat and the Indiana Men's Golf team is ranked No. 25 after their strong start to the season.
Indiana finished last year ranked No. 33 in the Golfstat rankings, which are used to help determine the field for the NCAA Regionals in the Spring.
So far this season, the Hoosiers have finished first, second and seventh in the three tournaments they have entered. They won the Northern Intercollegiate by 15 strokes to start the year and then followed that up the next week with a second place finish at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, three strokes behind Illinois, who is ranked No. 18 in this week's Golfstat rankings.
Then last week, playing against a strong field at a tough Skokie Country Club, Indiana finished seventh, just behind three other teams ranked in the top 25 of the Golfstat rankings.
Indiana will take part in the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois this week. The tournament starts on Sunday and runs through Tuesday with live scoring available at golfstat.com.
