October 6, 1998 HOOSIERS FINISH THIRD, LANDRY TIES FOR SIXTH
Franklin, Ind., The IU men's golf team finished third place in the Legends of Indiana Intercollegiate golf tournament. IU started the day in fifth place, behind Akron, Wisconsin, Illinois, and leader Toledo. But when Akron and Wisconsin slipped today, the Hoosiers were able to capitalize.
Firing a team score of 301, IU finished the tournament at 22 over par and with a team total of 886 (295-290-301). The winner, Toledo, finished an outstanding 15 strokes under par with a total of 849 (278-279-292).
Senior Brent Landry was the Hoosiers top golfer at the Legends. Landry turned in a one over par 73 to finish with a total of 215, five stokes shy of the winners, D.A. Points (210) of Illinois and Tim Rice (210) of Toledo.
The Hoosiers next travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to play in the Xavier Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, October 12 -13.
