    AKRON, Ohio - The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team (No. 37 Golfweek-Sagarin/No. 34 Golfstat) heads to Akron, Ohio on October 10-11 for The Firestone Invitational. The Hoosiers are the defending champion at the event and will get underway with two rounds on Monday, followed by a final round on Tuesday. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET on both days, with the second round played immediately following the conclusion of the first round on Monday.

    The tournament is hosted by the University of Akron at the Firestone Country Club - North Course. The North Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones and opened in 1969. It is a 7,125-yard par-72 layout.

    Along with Indiana, the field includes: Akron, Ball State, Davidson, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Iowa State, Kansas State, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), Nebraska, SMU, St. Mary's (Calif.), Toledo, South Alabama, USC-Aiken and Wisconsin. Five teams in the field are rated among the top-60 teams in the country according to Golfstat.

    The Hoosiers were one of two teams to finish under par at the 2010 Firestone Invitational, registering a 15-under 849 to edge Notre Dame by one stroke for the team title. David Erdy tied for medalist honors, while four Hoosiers finished in the top-10. Erdy fired the third 65 of his career during the second round of the event.



    The Hoosiers have been out of tournament action since finishing 12th at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on September 18th. Wright was the top Hoosier finisher in that event, landing in a tie for 25th after posting a 10-over 220 total for three rounds.
