IU Men's Golf to Compete in 2010 Firestone Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
The Indiana University men's golf team will compete in the Firestone Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Akron, Ohio at the famous Firestone Country Club-North Course.
The Firestone Country Club-North Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, opened in 1969 and has been rated by Golf Digest as one of the top-10 courses in Ohio. The North Course is a par-72 and plays at 7,060 yards.
The 54-hole event will be broken up into two days with the first 36 holes to be played on Monday, October 10 and the final 18 set for Tuesday, October 11. There will also be live scoring for the event at www.golfstat.com.
The Hoosiers are among a 13-team field that includes four teams slotted in the top-40 of the most recent Golfstat rankings. Indiana is currently ranked 36th, while No. 34 Notre Dame, No. 37 New Mexico State, and No. 39 Xavier will also be competing in the event.
The complete field for the event includes: Akron, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State, Maryland, New Mexico State, Notre Dame, St. Mary's College, Toledo, Wichita State, and Xavier.
Junior David Erdy will play in the No. 1 spot for Indiana after leading the Hoosiers at the Windon Memorial Classic on September 26-27, tying for fourth individually. Freshman David Mills will be in the No. 2 spot, while junior Chase Wright and sophomore Brant Peaper will play in the No. 3 and 4 positions.
