Oct. 11, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana senior golfer Jorge Campillo was picked as the nation's best collegiate golfer by Golfweek's Lance Ringler on Friday during their online "Off Campus" show. Click here to watch the video clip.
Campillo finished as the runner-up in last year's NCAA Championships, and is off to a red-hot start this season. He is coming off a final-round 63 to snag the Windon Memorial invidividual title earlier in the week. It marked Campillo's second medalist honors after winning the season-opening Wolf Run Intercollegiate as well. Campillo has placed in the top-ten in each of the first four tournaments this season. His 70.00 scoring average through 12 rounds is tops on the team.
As a team, the Hoosiers are ranked 19th nationally in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
Campillo and the rest of the Hoosiers are currently preparing for their second of four "majors" on the year. Head Coach Mike Mayer will lead his squad at the Islewoth UCF Collegiate from Oct. 26-28.
