    October 13, 1998 IU MEN'S GOLF TEAM FINISHES SECOND LANDRY DROPS TO FOURTH

    Cincinnati, Ohio., The Indiana men's golf team dropped out of first place today and finished second at the Xavier Provident Invitational. The Hoosiers fired a three round total of 870 (287-277-306), leaving them two strokes shy of Eastern Michigan 868 (288-286-294).

    Senior Brent Landry also dropped a few places today. Starting the day in first, Landry 212 (70-65-77) turned in a score 77, pushing him back into a tie for fourth place with Jim Herman of Cincinnati 212 (70-73-69).

    Coach Mike Mayer was slightly disappointed with today's round. He said his team had the opportunity to win, but couldn't capitalize. "We had our chances," Mayer said. "But we just couldn't come through."

    The Hoosiers next travel to Palo Alto, California October 30 through November 1, to participate in the Nelson.
