MEN'S GOLF IN GOOD SHAPE AFTER ROUND ONE; LINSKI LEADS THE FIELD
LOUISVILLE, Kent. - After two dismal performances to start the season, the IU men's golf team has rebounded nicely in the first round of the Persimmon Ridge Intercollegiate. The squad sits in the second position, two shots off the leader, Akron.
Indiana's Chick Linski is currently leading the tournament field after carding a one under par 71 today. He has a one shot lead over a quartet of other competitors. Linski, a transfer from Dayton, is in his third tournament for the Hoosiers. His first round lead at Persimmon Ridge is the perfect anecdote to wash away the horrors of an 89th place finish at the Legends Intercollegiate two weeks ago. At the Legends, he carded a 18 on one hole, enough to bury him for good.
Seniors Josh Brewer and Randy Leen with rounds of 73 and 76, respectively, make up IU's next lowest scores. The senior leaders of the squad will have to pick it up a bit in the final round on Tuesday if the Hoosiers are to notch their first medalist performance of the season.
