WINDERMERE, Fla. -
The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team (No. 33 Golfstat/No. 33 Golfweek-Sagarin) has a stern test to round out the fall portion of the schedule, as they travel south to compete in one of the nation's premiere collegiate golf events, the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. The tournament is a 54-hole event, with 18-holes each day from October 23-25.
Live scoring of the event will be provided by Golfstat.
The Isleworth Golf & Country Club is located in Windermere, Fla. and is a par-72, 7,544 yard layout. The track was originally designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay with a re-design by Steve Smyers in 2003. It is consistently ranked as the longest and most difficult course in the state of Florida by the Florida State Golf Association.
The Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, co-hosted by Texas Tech and UCF, will welcome one of the most challenging fields in all of collegiate golf. WEEK IN REVIEW
The Hoosiers are one week removed from a runner-up finish at the Windon Memorial in Skokie, Ill. Indiana tied No. 22 UCLA for second place, finishing four shots behind No. 8 Arkansas. The Hoosiers have placed among the top-3 teams in three of their four tournaments this fall, including a victory at the Firestone Invitational. IU enters the Isleworth Collegiate with an overall record of 43-14-2.
MODELS OF CONSISTENCY
Senior Chase Wright and sophomore David Mills have made a habit of going low this fall. Wright has recorded a score of 72 or less in eight of 12 rounds, while Mills has done so in six out of 12. The pair have combined for five top-10 finishes and seven top-25 performances this season. Wright is on the cusp of entering the top-50 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Individual rankings as he is currently at No. 52, with an overall record of 296-33-6.
65 & UNDER
Junior Brant Peaper fired a 5-under 65 in the second round of the Windon Memorial last week, becoming the ninth Hoosier to post a score of 65 or better. Senior David Erdy has accomplished the feat on three occasions, most recently at the 2010 Firestone Invitational.
