Hoosiers Rolling at Kiawah Island Intercollegiate

The Indiana University men's golf team fired a two-over par 578 (286-292) to grab a commanding 15-shot lead through two rounds at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Monday at Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. Sophomore Brant Peaper led the way for the Hoosiers and is also leading the tournament individually with a seven-under 137 (68-69).
Following the Hoosiers in the top five are Campbell University (593), College of Charleston (598), Longwood University (604), and Charleston Southern (614).
Peaper finished the day with eight birdies and one bogey, while recording the only two sub-70 scores among the field. The Tequesta, Fla. native will take a five-shot lead into the final round. Longwood's Michael Young is currently in second place with a score of 142 (70-72).
Indiana also received top-10 caliber play from freshman David Mills, as well as juniors Chase Wright and David Erdy. Mills finished the day with a one-over 145 (70-75) to put him in a tie for third. Wright posted a 147 (74-73), which leaves him tied for sixth. Erdy is tied for 10th after notching a 149 (74-75).
Sophomore Kyle Perry, competing in the No. 5 spot, ended the afternoon in a tie for 29th after recording a 153 (78-75).
Freshman Hugo Menendez, playing as an individual, finished the second round with a top-10 spot on the leaderboard after rounds of 73 and 76 (149).
Final round play will get underway in a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday. There will continue to be live scoring available at www.golfstat.com.
