McGee Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week
Nov. 8, 2012
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's golf senior Michael McGee was named the Big Ten Conference Golfer of the Week today after posting a 10th place finish at the Warrior-Wave Intercollegiate in Princeville, Hawaii.
"There are so many great players in our conference that have won this award before," said McGee. "Even guys on our team have won in the past and gone on to successful careers. It's a really cool thing for me and because I know this isn't something that's easy to achieve."
McGee fired rounds of 71, 75 and 67 for his second Top 10 finish of the season. It is his third Top 20 showing of the year and the 67 matches his career-best round.
"The last round was the key. It felt like it was a matter of time before things came together. I had hit the ball really well the first couple days but finally the last day everything came together. I kept giving myself opportunities and played my best round of the year."
McGee joins Brant Peaper as the two Hoosiers who have claimed the Big Ten weekly award so far this season.
