BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With one round remaining in the second stage at Q-School, a trio of former Indiana men's golf standouts are in position to advance to the final stage at the PGA Tour's National Qualifying Tournament. Jeff Overton (2002-05), Steve Wheatcroft (1998-01) and Dan Olsen (1986-89) all sit in the top 15 at their respective playing sites, giving them an opportunity to advance to the final stage.

Although Overton finished with a 2-over-par 74 on Friday afternoon, the Evansville, Ind., product is tied for 14th place at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside, Calif. The top 19 and ties advance to the final stage. Overton holds an even-par 216 total (71-71-74) heading into the fourth and final round. Gabriel Hjerstedt (74-68-67) and Steven Alker (70-70-69) hold the lead at the site with 7-under scores of 209.

Wheatcroft matched his opening-round 69 with a 3-under in round three at Lake Jovita Country Club in Dade City, Fla. Following a 72 in the middle round, Wheatcroft holds a 210 total and is tied for 11th place as the top 18 scores plus ties going forward. Tommy Tolles leads the field with a 17-under total of 199 following rounds of 67, 68 and 64.

Olsen sits in the best position of the three after carding his third straight even-par 72 at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. The 2004 PGA Tour member is tied for sixth place with the top 19 plus ties moving on to the final stage. Olsen trails leaders Will MacKenzie (71-70-72) and Jeremy Anderson (72-69-72) by three strokes entering the fourth and final round.

If any or each of the three advance, the final stage of qualifying will take place on Wednesday-Monday, Nov. 30-Dec. 5 at Panther Lake Course and Crooked Cat Course in Winter Garden, Fla.

In addition to the aforementioned trio, former Hoosier Randy Leen (1995-98) participated at the second stage qualifier on Nov. 9-12. Playing Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla., Leen finished in a tie for 29th at 290 (72-77-70-71).
