BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana men's golf head coach Mike Mayer announced on Tuesday afternoon that Chase Wright (Muncie, Ind./Delta) and David Erdy (Boonville, Ind./Castle) have signed national letters-of-intent to attend Indiana University beginning in the fall semester of 2008.

"We are extremely pleased to get the top two golfers from the state of Indiana in the class of 2008," Mayer said. "This continues to show our commitment to recruiting the top players from our state. Chase and David will contribute to our program's continued improvement, and they will help us achieve our goals both at the Big Ten and national levels."

Wright finished second at the 2006 Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) State Championship with a 139 (70-69) and collected first team all-state accolades in both 2005 and 2006. He captured the 2007 IHSAA Muncie Central Regional (70).

On a national stage, Wright qualified for the 2007 United States Amateur Championship at Olympic Club in San Francisco. He also represented the United States in the 2004 Junior Ryder Cup matches (USA vs. Europe).

Competing on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) circuit, he finished second at the Bluegrass Junior in June of 2007, qualified for the 2005 and 2006 Rolex Tournament of Champions and finished fifth at the 2006 Bluegrass Junior. The son of Jay and Carmen Wright, Chase was born on June 16, 1989.

"We are thrilled that Chase has decided to come to Indiana University," Mayer said. "He brings with him a wealth of tournament experience both in Indiana and throughout the United States. His ability and passion for the game of golf will give him the opportunity to come in here and compete right away. We look for Chase to make an immediate impact on our program."

Erdy won the 2007 Evansville Men's City Championship and placed seventh in IHSAA 2007 State Championship en route to a spot on the all-state squad. He won the 2007 IHSAA Heritage Hills Regional with a 69.

He continued his impressive play at the 2007 Indiana Boys' State Junior Championship, earning medalist honors at 143 (72-71). Erdy won the 2007 Future Collegiate World Tour (FCWT) Purdue Open (72-72), finished third in 2007 FCWT St. Andrews Open (72-77) and came in 25th at the 2007 AJGA Nationwide Insurance Junior at Muirfield Village (Columbus, Ohio), shooting a three-round 219. The son of Gary and Mary Erdy, David was born on Nov. 17, 1989.

"David Erdy is going to be a special player at Indiana University," Mayer said. "He is somewhat reminiscent of a former player of ours from Evansville (current PGA Tour standout Jeff Overton). David has a passion for the game of golf that is unparalleled. He is a leader both on and off the golf course and will be a great addition to our program"
