Campillo to Compete in European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage

Update: Campillo fired a 4-under 66 in the first round to tie for fourth. He then posted a 71 in round two and currently sits in a tie for eighth.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Former Hoosier standout Jorge Campillo will compete in the Final Stage of European Tour Qualifying School beginning on Saturday, December 4 at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, Spain.
The six-round event will conclude on Thursday, December 9, with the top 30 players and ties becoming eligible for Category 11 membership of the European Tour for the following season. Category 11 membership entitles players with entry into a large number of European Tour events.
A native of Caceres, Spain, Campillo advanced after finishing in a tie for seventh at the Second Stage where he posted a 283 (67-71-71-74) at Costa Ballena Ocean Club in Jerez, Spain.
Campillo is scheduled to tee off at 12:35 p.m. GMT (6:35 a.m. ET) on Saturday at the Tour Course. Tournament scoring can be found by clicking the link above.
In 2010, Campillo competed in six European Tour events, as well as 13 Challenge Tour tournaments. He posted three Top-20 finishes among those 13 Challenge Tour events, including ninth place at the Karnten Golf Open in Klagenfurt, Austria.
Campillo was a two-time All-American during his stint in Bloomington. His decorated collegiate career included a second place finish at the 2008 NCAA Tournament, a Big Ten championship, two Big Ten Player of the Year awards, and the 2008 Indiana Male Athlete of the Year.
