BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University head coach Todd Yeagley announced the 2012 spring schedule today, highlighted by a match against the U-20 Mexican Youth National Team on Sunday, April 29 in Bloomington.

"Our team has been working very hard over the past few months and we all are looking forward to a challenging spring campaign," Yeagley said. "The spring season is an important time for individual and team development. Playing tough matches will allow us to accurately monitor our progress as we build towards next fall. Providing important minutes to our younger players and experimenting with players in new roles and positions will help our team moving forward."

The spring slate begins on March 24 against Saint Louis in Springfield, Ill. at 7 p.m. ET. That is followed by three-straight home matches, beginning with Bradley University on Sunday, April 1 at 3 p.m. ET.

The Hoosiers will face in-state foe Butler on Friday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. ET as part of the annual IU Spring Soccer Coaches Symposium. NAIA power and defending national champion Lindsey Wilson College visits Armstrong Stadium on Friday, April 13 at 8 p.m. ET.

Indiana will make its annual trip to Fort Wayne to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. ET. The match will take place at Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps minor league baseball team.

The season concludes on Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. ET with an appearance by the U-20 Mexican Youth National Team in Bloomington. This is the sixth meeting between the squads with Indiana holding a 2-3 record against its Mexican counterparts. The international friendly last took place in 2010, with the Hoosiers posting a 2-0 victory behind goals from Tyler McCarroll and Will Bruin in front of a crowd of 4,125. It marked the first shutout for the Hoosiers in the series.

Our final match this spring against the Mexico's U20s will be a great one," Yeagley said. "This will be the sixth time we have hosted this special event. Having the opportunity to have our players play against some of the world's finest players in their age group is a great experience. Our matches with Mexico since 2005 have given our fans and community a glimpse of the excitement and fanfare surrounding International matches. I expect another great match and sell out at Armstrong on April 29."

In 2008, Mexico came away with a 2-0 victory in front of nearly 5,000 fans. In 2007 the U-20 Mexican National Team down the Hoosiers by a 2-0 score in front of a crowd of 6,000 fans. Javier Hernandez (Chicharito), current Mexican National Team star and starter for Manchester United, scored the first goal in that match.

Mexico won the first game in 2005 by the score of 2-1, with Heriberto Beltran scoring the game-winner in the 82nd minute. The Tricolores would go on to win the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Cup that summer.
