NO. 1 HOOSIERS TIE NO. 4 CLEMSON 1-1

CLEMSON, SC-- Indiana and Clemson battled to a 1-1 tie in the Hoosiers' final exhibition game Saturday iun South Carolina.
This was a battle of two of the preseason favorites as Indiana is ranked first in the nation in both the Soccer America and NSCAA poll while Clemson is ranked fourth in both rankings.
Clemson scored first at the 10:52 mark. Ross Goodacre touched the ball to Bob Cavanagh in the left corner. Cavanagh crossed the ball to Mark Lisi who sent a diagonal shot to the right wall of the net.
Indiana tied the score at the 73:30 mark as Yuri Lavrinenko converted on a penalty kick after a Hoosier was pulled down in the penalty area.
The Hoosiers outshot the Tigers 13-10 and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Hoosiers begin their regular season next weekend with the 17th annual adidas/IU Credit Union Classic Sept. 3 and 5. This year's tournament features four teams ranked in the top 20 in the host Indiana Hoosiers, Maryland, Butler and St. Louis.
