TOP-RANKED HOOSIERS DEFEAT FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 6-0

Dallas, Texas -- The top-ranked Indiana soccer team defeated Florida International 6-0 as Aleksey Korol scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead the Hoosiers.

Head coach Jerry Yeagley moved Korol back to his usual forward position tonight and the move paid dividends as the Hoosiers scored three times in the first 15 minutes and four times in the first half.

"The key to our attack was Aleksey getting behind their defense and creating opportunities," Yeagley said. "He did a good job of finishing once he got the ball as well."

Dema Kovalenko scored the first goal on an assist from Korol but then he added his first goal. He stole the ball from a FIU defender, split through two others and converted a shot from 16 yards out. Lazo Alavanja then scored the thrid goal of the match.

Korol finished the first half scoring as he coverted a nice pass from Kovalenko to make it 4-0. Ryan Mack and Alavanja scored goals in the second half.

"It's about time I contribute to the offense," Korol said. "I love playing forward."
