Oct. 31, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University senior midfielder A.J. Corrado was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Corrado now moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
A starter in all 16 matches for IU this season, Corrado leads the team in assists with five and is tied for fourth on the team in goals scored with two. His nine points ranks third for the Hoosiers. A standout in the classroom, Corrado is a biology major with a 3.64 GPA.
Earlier this month Corrado was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition. A complete list of finalists follows this release. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Corrado and the Hoosiers are back in action Friday night at 7 p.m. ET as they play host to the Michigan State Spartans. Prior to the match, Corrado, Jacob Bushue, Nikita Kotlov, Matt McKain and Harrison Petts will be honored as part of Senior Night activities.
