Dec. 21, 2012
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -
Registration is now open for the 2013 Indiana University men's soccer summer camp, with two session options available to campers.
The first overnight camp will from June 19-23, with the second camp slated for June 26-30. The camps are open to any and all participants, boys ages 10-19, pre-college. NCAA legislation allows high school graduates to attend camp.
Cost for the residential camp is $575.
Players are divided into groups by age and ability with low staff-to-camper ratios for concentrated teaching. There is a strong focus on individual skills as well as a dynamic program that advances team tactics. Player creativity is encouraged to maintain a positive attitude toward developing their game. Daily morning sessions include training in techniques such as finishing, passing, dribbling, and ball control, while afternoon sessions concentrate on tactical development with full 11 v 11 matches and tournaments.
Daily activities include film sessions as well as a series of lectures and question and answer sessions. Advanced campers will also benefit from the recruiting opportunities offered through our in-camp college recruiting seminar and our network of college coaches who work on staff at Indiana Soccer Camp.
The goalkeeper is a key position and will be given specialized training with a well-rounded approach for the tactical, technical and psychological aspects of the position. Training and evaluation will be enhanced as goalkeepers are incorporated into group training activities with the field players. Match-related activities give the goalkeeper the opportunity to combine fundamental skills with tactical decision-making. Off the field learning continues with film sessions and Q&A sessions dedicated specifically to world-class goalkeeping.
The Hoosiers will also play host to a day camp, June 10-14. The Little Stars camp is for boys and girls ages 4-6, and will run 9 a.m.-11 a.m. A half-day option is available for ages 6-13 (9 a.m.-noon) and a full-day camp for ages 7-13 (9 a.m.-3 p.m.).
The Little Stars program is designed to entertain the younger soccer player. Daily activities are filled with soccer specific games and activities to instill fun and passion for the game of soccer. Many of these games can be learned and played with parents at home. For the half-day camp, each group is divided by age and ability to ensure the best learning environment for all campers. This program is designed to teach technique, small tactical situations, and continued appreciation for the game of soccer.
The full day campers have the same schedule as the half-day campers in the morning. In the afternoon these campers will experience tactical training and tournament games. The afternoon follows lunchtime games such as "stump the staff" trivia, "jersey day," "crazy hair day," staff games and video sessions.
