Tyson Hurst is in his first year as a volunteer assistant coach with the Hoosier men and women. Hurst comes from Redmond, Oregon where he spent the last three years as a high school coach and also for the Cascade Aquatic Club. In both programs he was responsible for writing workouts, mentoring the athletes and recruiting.
Hurst helped lead the Redmond High School men's team to three consecutive undefeated dual meet seasons in the Central Valley Conference. He was also in charge of the growth and development for both the novice and age group programs with the club team.
Before coming to IU, Hurst spent his time in Oregon pairing his coaching responsibilities with entrepreneurial endeavors. An owner of two businesses in Central Oregon and a huge passion for music and community theater enabled him to continue his favorite hobbies. Hurst received his B.S. in Music Education in 2005 and his MAT in 2006, both from Oregon State University.
