    IU Sends 2 More To NCAA Champs on Final Day of Zone Diving

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Two more Hoosiers will be making the trip to the NCAA Championships as sophomore Conor Murphy and junior Amy Cozad earned their way to the national meet on the final day of competition at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington.

    Murphy will join Darian Schmidt, Zac Nees and Mick Dell'Orco at the NCAA Championships March 22-24, in Federal Way, Wash. Murphy built an insurmountable lead in the platform prelims, tallying 433.55 points. That is the fifth-best six-dive platform score in school history.

    He added 414.10 points for his final six dives to finish with 847.65. Nees also advanced to the final where he placed fifth with 699.50 points. Danton Rogers was 14th in prelims (274.40), with Dell'Orco 17th (249.65), and Schmidt and Connor Brisson tied for 22nd with 222.65 points.

    Picking up the seventh and final NCAA qualifying spot was Ohio State's Christian Holstein, based on his fourth-place finish on the 1-meter springboard Friday. The Hoosiers' four is the most qualifiers from a single school in the men's NCAA Championships.

    In the women's platform event, Cozad finished second to pick up the seventh and final qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships, March 15-17 in Auburn Ala. Cozad tallied 279.85 points in the first round before storming back with a 346-point effort to tally 625.85.

    Senior Gabby Agostino concluded her IU career with a fourth-place finish with 576.25 points. Sophomore Kate Hillman was seventh (550.40) and sophomore Laura Ryan was 12th (475.90). IUPUI's Chen Ni locked up the other qualifying spot by winning the platform competition with a score of 653.45.

    Ryan will join Cozad in Alabama after earning her spot at the NCAA meet in yesterday's 3-meter springboard competition.
