Roberts, Rappaport Take 10th in Synchro Three-Meter at Spring Nationals

BOYDS, Md. - Indiana junior Taylor Roberts and 2006 IU graduate Jesse Rappaport combined to finish 10th in the synchronized three-meter at the Speedo USA Diving Spring Nationals at the Germantown Indoor Pool on Thursday, April 19.
Roberts and Rappaport turned in a score of 290.22 in the final round of the three-meter synchro for their placement. The duo finished in the top eight in three of the six rounds of dives, with their reverse dive pike earning 39.60 points, good for sixth in the second round.
The Hoosier pair earned a spot in the finals with an eighth-place showing in the semifinals. Roberts and Rappaport teamed to post a score of 321.93 in the semis, finishing fifth in three rounds. Their reverse dive pike was good for 43.80 points in round two, while their forward three-and-a-half somersault pike was worth 58.59 points in the third. The duo earned a score of 63.24 for its forward two-and-a-half somersault two twist pike in the fourth round.
Individually, Rappaport took ninth in the semifinals of the three-meter, turning in 341.90 points. Three of his dives were in the top 10 for their respective rounds, including a second-place showing in round five for his inward two-and-a-half somersault pike, which earned 67.50 points. Rappaport earned a spot in the semis with a second-place showing in the preliminaries on April 15.
The Spring Nationals continue on Friday, April 20, with the men's 10-meter semis and 10-meter synchro semis and finals. The finals of the three-meter will take place on Saturday, April 21.
