Men's Swim and Dive Sweeps Kentucky, Tennessee

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's swimming and diving team picked up its first wins of the season in dominating fashion, defeating Kentucky 208-92 and Tennessee 179-121 in a double dual meet at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center Friday afternoon.
Eric Ress won the 1,000 free with a season-best time of 9:41.31, with Grayson Miller sixth (9:29.04). Bradley Stamper turned it on in the final 50 yards in heat one, going 9:30.61 to out-touch Sam Peterson of Tennessee (9:30.66) and finish eighth overall.
The Hoosier men went 1-2-3 in the 200 free with Anze Tavcar first in 1:38.19. Max Irwin was second (1:39.68) and Jackson Miller third (1:39.26). Wells won the 100 backstroke in 48.26 (NCAA B cut), with Bob Glover fourth in 50.39.
It was a 1-3 finish for IU in the 100 breaststroke with Cody Miller winning in 55.01 (NCAA B cut) and Tanner Kurz third (56.05). Steve Schmuhl won the 200 butterfly in 1:50.45, while Max Irwin was fourth in 1:52.23.
Ress went 1:44.93 (NCAA B cut) to win the 200 backstroke, with Wells third in a time of 1:47.93. Miller made it a breaststroke sweep, winning the 200 breast in 2:00.34. Picking up his third win of the day, Ress went 4:31.69 in the 500 free, with Jackson Miller second (4:32.90).
Irwin took second in the 100 fly (49.23), followed by Schmuhl in fourth with a time of 50.38. Indiana went 1-2 in the 200 individual medley with Cody Miller winning in 1:49.68, and Schmuhl second in 1:51.40.
Ogden and Murphy went 2-3 on the 3-meter, with Ogden tallying a score of 368.10, and Murphy 354.50.
The meet ended with the 400 free relay, as Tavcar, Ress, Wells and Jackson Miller took second in 3:01.26.
