Bloomington~ The Indiana Hoosiers edged out the Ohio State Buckeyes 124-119 in a close match up. The Indiana men won five of 11 swimming events and both diving events.
Individual wins for the Hoosiers included the 1000 yd Freestyle event which was won by Joe Trent. His time of 9:19.81 was an individual season best. Ken Ackermann stole the 200 yard backstroke event (1:49.79) and David Schulze took the 200 yard breaststroke event with a time of 2:03.43.
Indiana teamed up to win the 400 Medley Relay (3:21.69) as well as the 400 Free Relay (3:07.31) events. Indiana finished second behind Ohio State's 400 Free Relay team but won the event because of an OSU disqualification. These extra points helped clench IU's first place win.
Indiana Diving won both events. Tom Davidson won the one Meter event (340.42) and Eric Robson placed first in the three Meter (318.30) event.
