    INDIANA RIPS CINCINNATI

The Indiana rebounded from Friday's loss to Penn State with a solid 169-129 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Hoosiers won both relays and three individuals had two firsts also. Ken Ackermann scored a pair in the backstroke events while Tom Davis had two wins in the breaststroke events and Mike Collier swept the diving competition.

The Hoosiers took the top four spots in both diving events. Collier won the one-meter with a score of 307.60. He was followed by Jason Graves, Ryan Kosanic, and Jon Repetti. On the three-meter, Collier won with a total of 325.20. Graves took second again and Repetti and Kosanic finished third and fourth, respectively.

Ackermann won the 100 back and 200 back followed by Tom Davis with a pair of firsts in the 100 and 200 breast. Ackermann's winning times were 51.41 in the 100 and 1:50.52 in the 200. Davis won the 100 with a time of 57.43 and his 200 winning time was 2:03.31.

The win puts Indiana's dual meet record at 6-3. The Hoosiers will be off next weekend and will host Michigan on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 30, Michigan State will visit for a noon showdown. The Michigan State meet will the Parents' and Senior Day. Both meets will be at the Counsilman/Billingsley Center.

Even though Indiana split the meets this weekend, head coach Kris Kirchner was pleased with his team's progress. "We had a lot of guys that swam really well. Right now we are stale, because we haven't competed in a while. A lot of preparation right now is mental and getting ready to compete. I'm looking past to the wins and losses right now. Overall we've made progress forward, but we still have a ways to go."
