The Indiana men's and women's swimming and diving teams open the 2013 dual meet season Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington.
The Hoosier women, ranked 22nd in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America top-25, will face No. 19 Notre Dame. The IU men, ranked 10th in the last CSCAA top-25, will square off against No. 6 Ohio State and No. 18 Iowa.
The meet is free to the public.
Both Hoosier squads are competing for the first time since December, when the teams split time between the USA Swimming Winter Nationals (Nov. 29-Dec. 1) and the Ohio State Invitational (Nov. 30-Dec. 2).
Their last dual meet competition came Nov. 16-17 at the CBAC in a double dual meet vs. Penn State and Virginia. The men posted a sweep over the Nittany Lions (178.5-174.5) and the Cavaliers (177-176), while the women came up short against PSU (207.5-144.5) and Virginia (226-126).
The women are led by junior Lindsay Vrooman, who has posted NCAA B cuts in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 1650 freestyle. Sophomore Cynthia Pammett has provisional cut times in the 200 free, 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke, while freshman Brooklyn Snodgrass has the team's top times and NCAA B cuts in the 100 back and 200 back.
Six different IU men have posted NCAA provisional marks, led by junior Cody Miller in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley. Senior Jim Barbiere has NCAA B cuts in the 500 free and 1,650 free, while junior Eric Ress has returned from a redshirt season to post B cuts I the 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley.
The men's and women's dual meets will run concurrently, with the teams swimming the 200 medley relay, 1000 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 500 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 individual medley and 400 freestyle relay. Diving competition will also take place during the swimming events.
