    HOOSIERS HOST BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

This Week: The Indiana swimming and diving team hosts the 1999 Big Ten Championships at the Counsilman/Billingsley Aquatics Center, February 25-27. Prelims begin at 12 p.m., and finals begin at 7 p.m. The diving session starts each day at 1:30 p.m.

Winning Ways: With a 9-3 overall mark and 3-1 Big Ten mark, the Hoosiers posted the best dual meet season since 1995 where IU went 9-5 and finished fourth at the Big Ten Championships.

Season Recap: After beginning the season 1-2 with losses from Drury and Missouri, the Hoosiers have picked up their pace winning seven of their last eight to record nine total wins. The only other loss came at the hands of Penn State.

The highlight of the season may have been the meet against Michigan where the Hoosiers won for the first time since 1989. For Wolverine head coach Jon Urbanchek it was only his third conference loss in his career. His record now stands at 76-3 with all three losses to Indiana.

The 9-3 record is Kirchner's best since 1995, and second highest in his nine year history.

Rankings: The Indiana Hoosiers have been receiving votes in the Speedo America's College Swimming Coaches Association's poll.

NCAA Diving Zone Meet: Indiana will also be the site of the NCAA Regional Diving Zone Meet. It will be held Mar. 12-13 and the top qualifiers will move on to the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Mar. 25-27.
