    March 3, 2007

Throughout the course of the Zone C Diving Championships from March 2-4, select Indiana divers will check in with IUHOOSIERS.com. Junior David Legler's account of the first day of the trip appears below.

Today began by waking up around 7:30 for me and about 6:45 for my early bird roommate Taylor (Roberts). We were supposed to leave for the pool at 7:50, but of course we were late, because we were once again waiting for Will (Bohonyi) and (David) Piercy, who were spending extra time getting ready so they could impress the life guard at the pool. The life guard, by the way, is a 60-year-old woman who wears a "beach swimsuit" and water shoes.

Anyway, we had warm-up from 8:50-9:40. Heather (Chapman), Amy (Korthauer) and I ended up not competing today, so we had the privilege of practicing tower a bit more (lucky us). After the warm-up was over, Cassie (Cardinell) and I had some time to kill, so we thought it would be a good idea to go to Barnes & Noble. Unfortunately, we were given incorrect directions, so something that should have lasted 30 minutes ending up taking more than an hour. Once we found our way back to the pool, we watched the diving meet (obviously) and Heather forced me to allow her to give me a massage (I think that makes sense). Once the meet was over, we were done for the day, so the Piercys, Yanceys, my parents, me and Will went to eat at the mall. While eating, Piercy and I decided it would be a good idea to go get our hair trimmed. Well, that was the plan, at least. I'm pretty sure I told the woman to cut off around an inch. Apparently, when I said "cut off an inch," she thought I said "all but an inch," because I did not think she was going to stop cutting. So when she finally stopped, all that hair you see in my profile picture to the right ... yeah, it's pretty much gone. But I do luck goooood.

Once the ladies were done telling me how much they loved my hair and how good I looked, Will and I went back to the hotel for a team meeting. After the meeting, everyone pretty much just hung out in different rooms either watching gymnastics crash tapes on YouTube or playing Catch Phrase or doing whatever else it was they were doing. Then it was time for bed in preparation for Day Two.

    GO HOOSIERS!!!
