DIVE TEAM LOOKS TO CONTINUE SUCCESS AT NCAA REGIONAL MEET
This Week: The Indiana Diving team will be competing at the NCAA Regional Dive Meet, March 13-14. The host of the meet is Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The top finishers in each event will move on to the NCAA Championships at Auburn University later this month. Mike Collier, Tom Davidson, Jason Graves, Ryan Kosanic, and Jon Repetti have qualified for the regional meet. Collier is the defending champion on the one-meter. He also placed second on the three-meter and sixth on the platform.
Big Ten Championships: The 1998 Big Ten Championships proved to be a successful one for the diving Hoosiers. Head Coach Jeff Huber won the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year. Sophomore Davidson became the second consecutive Indiana diver to earn Diver of the Championships. Last year, Collier won the award. Davidson, 1997 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, captured the one-meter title, took second on the three-meter, and fourth on the platform. Collier, a junior, was named 1998 Big Ten Diver of the Year, an award he also won in 1997. He placed first on the platform, second on the one-meter, and sixth on the three-meter.
1998 NCAA Championships: The 1998 NCAA Championships will be held on the campus of Auburn University, March 26-28. The lone swimmer competing will be senior Rob Iglinski. Depending on the upcoming dive meet, Indiana could have as many as five divers competing at Auburn. Last year, the Hoosiers finished in 20th place overall.
