BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's men's diving squad has signed standout high school senior Landon Marzullo to a National Letter of Intent to dive for the Hoosiers beginning in the fall of 2007.

Marzullo has enjoyed tremendous success on the national level, most recently taking second on the one-meter and fifth on the platform at the 2006 U.S. Open. The Ohio state champion for Worthington Kilbourne High School, Marzullo also took fourth in the one-meter at both the Senior Nationals and Summer Junior Nationals that year.

The Columbus, Ohio, native earned a spot on the U.S. National Team in 2005, placing fourth on the one-meter at Senior Nationals and sixth in the platform. Marzullo was seventh in the platform at the U.S. Open two years ago. He was even more impressive at the Pan American Games, winning the platform and finishing fourth on the one-meter and sixth on the three-meter. Marzullo won a national championship in the one-meter at Summer Junior Nationals in 2005.

Marzullo enjoyed a banner year in 2002, sweeping the one-meter, three-meter and platform at the Summer Junior Nationals. He defended his crown in the one-meter in 2003, and won the three-meter at the 2004 Winter Junior Nationals. He was also an Olympic Trial qualifier from the platform that year.

"He's definitely one of the top recruits, if not the top recruit in the country," Indiana diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber said. "We got a guy who is real good on all three levels. He's had shoulder surgery, so we're not going to hurry to get him back on 10-meter. The pace of that will be dictated by his body and how he feels, so we're not going to rush that. He's equally good on one-meter and three-meter, and he's got a shot at making the Olympic team someday. I think all of our freshmen coming in are excited about the recruiting class."

Marzullo joins a loaded incoming freshman diving class that features Nick Foulks (Neenah, Wis.), Scott Berger (Carmel, Ind.) and Kris Hill (Aurora, Ohio).
