OMAHA, Neb. -
A spot in the evening semifinal of the 200-meter breaststroke for junior Cody Miller highlighted day four of Hoosier action at the USA Swimming Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
Miller clocked a time of 2:13.43 swimming the first of two semifinals in the evening session. That placed him seventh in the heat and 14th overall.
Miller earned his spot in the evening semifinal after posting a time of 2:13.61 in his morning prelim. Also competing in the morning session were senior Sam Trahin (29th-2:16.04) and sophomore Ian Boggs (114th-2:23.88). Trahin was first in his prelim heat, while Boggs placed ninth.
Miller made headlines for more than his swimming when prior to the start of his prelim race, his racing suit split down the back. Race officials allowed him to make a suit change, delaying the start. It was not unfamiliar territory for the junior as he swam the 200-yard breaststroke at the 2012 Big Ten Championships with the same wardrobe malfunction.
Incoming freshman Haley Lips was the top finisher with IU ties in the 200-meter butterfly, placing 41st with a time of 2:15.07. Allysa Vavra was four spots back in 2:15.36, while junior Lindsay Vrooman posted a time of 2:18.53 (90th).
