    Patrick Reaches Two Finals at Swimming Nationals

    IRVINE, Calif. - Rising Indiana junior Todd Patrick qualified for the consolation finals of the 200-meter individual medley and the bonus finals of the 100-meter free at the 2006 ConocoPhillips National Championships/World Championship Trials at the William Woollett, Jr. Aquatic Center on Aug. 4.

    Patrick finished 16th overall in the 200m IM, touching in 2:08.74. The Chesterfield, Mo., native took 23rd in the 100m free, posting a time of 51.12. Patrick earned Olympic Trial cuts in both events in the preliminaries, turning in a time of 50.89 in the 100m free and 2:04.59 in the 200m IM.

    Also competing in the 100m free prelims were rising junior Nick Walkotten (52.40) and rising senior Lee Houchin (52.62), who finished 67th and 74th, respectively.

    Rising sophomore Steffan Troxel and rising junior John Kevin Koehler swam in the prelims of the 1500m freestyle, and both turned in Olympic Trial cut times. Troxel touched in 15:47.77 to take 23rd place, while Koehler posted a time of 15:52.76 to take 31st place.

    The National Championships conclude on Aug. 5, with the 200m back, 200m breast, 1500m free and 400m medley relay being contested. Preliminaries start at 9 a.m. Pacific time, while finals begin at 5:30 p.m.
