    Fesenko Nabs Bronze at World University Games

    BANGKOK, Thailand - Former Indiana swimming standout Sergiy Fesenko (Kiev, Ukraine) took home the bronze medal in the 800-meter freestyle at the 2007 World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand.

    Representing his native Ukraine, Fesenko posted the third-fastest overall time of 7:52.41, which was also a career best. The United States' Chad LaTourette took home the gold with a time of 7:49.90, a new World University Games record. The silver medal went to Yury Prilukov of Russia.

    Fesenko returns to the pool on Sunday to compete in the 400-meter freestyle and will also take part in the 1,500-meter freestyle on Sunday.

    The 2007 World University Games run Aug. 8-18 with athletes from more than 200 countries competing. The event is held every two years during the winter and summer.
