Vrooman in Top 3 on Final Day of USA Swimming Nationals

IRVINE, Calif. - Indiana University Swimming's final day of competition at the Phillips 66 USA Swimming National Championships in Irvine, California was highlighted by a third-place finish from Lindsay Vrooman.
Vrooman finished third in the field in the 1,500 freestyle after touching the wall in 16:22.83. That marked her third top-eight finish of the meet after placing fourth in the 800 freestyle and sixth in the 400 freestyle.
Former Hoosier Daniel Kanorr took fourth in the B final of the 50-meter freestyle, good for 12th overall with a time of 22.86.
Steve Schmuhl closed his meet with a 16th-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:03.52. Mike Hurley was 50th (2:05.79), followed by Blake Pieroni (52nd-2:06.15) and Cody Taylor (72nd-2:09.51).
In the women's race, Gia Dalesandro was 55th in the field (2:20.78).
Indiana's summer swimming continues as senior Justine Ress and recent graduate Eric Ress represent France at the European Championships, Aug. 13-24 in Berlin, Germany. Junior Brooklynn Snodgrass (Canada) and recent graduate Cody Miller (USA) will compete at the Pan Pacific Championships, Aug. 21-24 in Australia.
